The “new year” may actually begin on
January 1st, but for those of us at the Ambler Theater it really
gets underway the day after the annual Academy Awards presentation. That is
when we start thinking about the 2006 crop of the best in independent, art
and foreign films. As always, you can expect to catch most of the top Oscar
nominees right here at the Ambler Theater.

Oscars Party: March 5, 2006
March came in like a lion with our Oscars
party and third birthday celebration. A sold-out crowd of guests in ball
gowns and tuxedos, sitting alongside the jeans and sneakers set, enjoyed a
wonderful evening of food, prizes, Silent Auction items, music and – of
course – the 2005 Academy Awards show on the Theater’s two big silver
screens. Thanks to the many individuals and businesses that donated food,
prizes and countless hours to make the evening a great success. Like the
Oscars winners say: We don’t have the time to name all of you, but you know
who you are!
What made the evening particularly special was hearing people talk about the
films they loved – and had seen at the Theater.

The 1928 Club
In our
February newsletter, we promised to reveal a surprise at the Oscars party.
Here it is:
The 1928
Club.
The beautiful,
Spanish style 1,200 seat Ambler Theater first opened in 1928. As part of our
capital campaign to complete
the Theater’s restoration, we invite you
to join our new 1928 Club. For a $1,928 contribution, you will
receive:
● THREE YEARS FREE ADMISSION AT ALL TIMES for you and a person of your
choice.
● Recognition on the Campaign Honor Roll that will be permanently
located in a prominent area of the Theater, as well as recognition in
the Campaign’s programs and on the Theater’s web site.
By becoming a 1928 Club member, you will help bring the 280-seat
historic “Future Theater” back to its original “1928” beauty. This will
double our total seating capacity to over 500, which means more films and
more special programs. As Marlon Brando said in The Godfather,
it’s “an offer you can’t refuse.
To join The 1928 Club:
Complete the Phase Two Capital Campaign Letter of Intent. (Available on the
table in the Theater’s main lobby or on our web site:
www.amblertheater.org.)
Make a pledge during 2006. (Payment may be made in full or over a two year
period.) You will receive your 1928 Club admission cards valid from
the date of your first payment.
One more bonus: All $1,928 gifts are eligible for a $1,685 tax deduction.

Capital Campaign Update
As of March 5th, we have raised
$702,000 towards our $1 million goal. With your support through buying a
bronze star to install in the sidewalk, joining The 1928 Club, or
making a contribution at any level, we can reach our goal this year. Just
imagine next year’s Oscars party in our newly built, gorgeous main
auditorium!
