Edmond O’Brien, Joan Fontaine, and Ida Lupino are featured in this sympathetic portrait of an ordinary salesman, who has relationships with two women; an upper-crust lady and a tough-talking waitress. We wrap our year celebrating Lupino with this vibrant film, which is the first that a woman both starred in and directed.

Film 101 is a series that explores elements of filmmaking, film criticism, and film theory. Each month we will present an exemplary classic film introduced by an important figure in the film community. This series is underwritten by The Vesta Fund.

Selected and presented in person by Senior Lecturer in Cinema Studies at U Penn Meta Mazaj. Free for Members.
