In this early-'70s British cult classic, a puritanical police sergeant is sent to a Scottish island village in search of a missing girl who the townsfolk claim never existed; stranger still are the pagan rites that take place there. THE WICKER MAN gained notoriety for its perverse merriness and genre-bending status among both horror fandom and cineastes alike, and in turn serves as inspiration for the new wave of horror we see today.
